Lille OSC and Paris Saint-Germain are clashing at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv in the French Super Cup. Lille has had a fantastic last season where they have surprisingly won the Ligue 1 title, but their form has been sloppy in the preseason. PSG on the other hand has had a fantastic preseason, and they have signed some great players that will help them get the Ligue 1 title back, and take that one last step in the Champions League.

Lille has played 5 friendly games in the preseason, and they have won only 1, lost 3, while one game ended in a draw. the biggest problem for Lille at the moment is they have lost a few great players, starting with Soumare who left for Leicester City, and Maignan who left for Milan, but they still haven’t brought anyone in, and there are still rumors that some other players will be leaving. The Ligue 1 battle was lasting until the very last game last season, and with 83 points, just 1 point ahead of PSG, Lille has won the title, and I loved it. As far as this season’s expectations go, Lille is hoping to defend the title, but alongside the Champions League and the French Cup, I think Lille might be stretched thin, and I just don’t think they have the depth to defend the title.

PSG is making all the necessary steps in the offseason to get the title back and to get the Champions League trophy, and I have a feeling it will be a good season for them. PSG hasn’t lost any of their 5 preseason games, and they have scored at least 1 goal in each of those games. PSG has made a few bombastic signings in the offseason starting with Ramos, Wijnaldum, and the Euro Cup winner Donnarumma in free transfers, and Hakimi from Inter for 60 million Euros, and Pereira from Porto for just over 10 million Euros. Bakker is the only player that has been sold by PSG to Leverkusen, while Areola was lent to West Ham, and Florenzi’s and Kean’s loans have expired. Once again, PSG is the biggest favorite to win the Ligue 1 title, but the Champions League is their goal, and with transfers they still have planned, PSG will have everything they need to get that Champions League trophy, but it will be hard.

Lille hasn’t won any of their last 4 games, while PSG hasn’t lost any of their last 10 games. This game is being played outside of France, and there is no home-field advantage, but I gotta go with the better team here, and that is PSG.
