Troyes vs. Paris Saint-Germain 8/7/21 Ligue 1 Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Troyes is hosting PSG at Stade de I’Aube in round 1 of the French Ligue 1. Troyes is the newcomer to the Ligue 1 after they won Ligue 2 last season, but they will have a tough time in this league. PSG has ended in 2^nd place last season, but they have won French Cup against Monaco.

As I’ve mentioned, Troyes has won Ligue 2 last season, but as the newcomers to Ligue 1, they are instantly one of the favorites to get relegated. Troyes hasn’t been doing well in the preseason, and they have only 1 win in 4 games. In each of those 4 games, Troyes has conceded at least 1 goal, but the good news is they have scored in 3 of those 4 games. Looking at their roster, you can see Troyes is a deep team, they have some decent quality, but not a lot of their players have Ligue 1 experience, and that is one of the reasons why Troyes is one of the candidates to get relegated after just one season. Of course, it’s hard to predict the outcome of the season before it even started, but Troyes’s only goal is to stay in Ligue 1.

PSG has had an excellent preseason, and they have had a chance to win their first trophy of the season last week in the French Super Cup, but they lost. PSG was playing against Lille in that game, and they were the dominant team with 71% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and a high 92% of the correct passes. PSG was missing some of their key players who were still on holiday, but they were still dominant, and they have created a lot of chances. PSG conceded a goal in the 45^th minute, but they just couldn’t score, and they lost this match 1-0. In the Ligue 1 last season, PSG was the best offensive team with 86 scored goals, and the second-best defensive team with 28 conceded goals, but that wasn’t enough for the title. PSG has ended up in 2^nd place with 82 points, just 1 point behind Lille. As far as the offseason goes, PSG was active on the market, and they have signed some fantastic players starting with Hakimi, Ramos, Wijnaldum, and Donnarumma, and their only goal in the win the Champions League. With all these superstars in their roster, it looks like PSG should walk through the Ligue 1, and they probably will, but the Champions League will be a different story.

Troyes has beaten PSG only twice in the past, and I don’t think this time will be any different. I know this is the first game of the season, but there is only one option here, and that is PSG and the goals.
