Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano are playing at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in round 1 of the Spanish LaLiga. Sevilla has had an excellent last season, and they ended it in 4th place, which was enough for them to qualify for the Champions League. Rayo Vallecano was decent in LaLiga 2 last season, but they had to go through the promotion playoffs to get here, and they succeeded.

Sevilla is in good form, they are a solid team, and they are undefeated in their 4 preseason games. Sevilla’s biggest outgoing transfer is Bryan Gil to Tottenham for 25 million Euros. As far as incoming transfers go, Sevilla has signed Montiel from River Plate, Dmitrovic from Eibar, and Lamela from Tottenham in a free transfer. Montiel and Torres are both injured, and they will miss this game. Sevilla is looking great, and you might think that the team without a massive superstar will not be good, but Sevilla has a load of experienced and great players, fantastic coach, and I think they will be in the title race for a long time this season, and as far as their Champions League ambitions go, Sevilla could easily reach the quarterfinals in my opinion.

Rayo Vallecano had a long, long journey to LaLiga, but in the end, they absolutely deserve to be here. Rayo has played 4 games in the preseason, they have 1 win, 2 draws, and 1 loss, but they have barely produced chances and goals. There are no injuries or suspensions in Rayo at this time. There aren’t any well-known players in Rayo Vallecano this season, but that doesn’t mean they are a bad team. Because they have just got to LaLiga, Rayo is also one of the favorites to get relegated again, but I don’t think they are any worse than a few other LaLiga teams, and I think they have a decent shot at securing their spot for next season as well. It won’t be an easy season for Ray Vallecano, especially because they weren’t even the best team in LaLiga 2, but with a bit of luck and some solid defense, Rayo might just pull off a miracle.

When playing at home, Sevilla has not lost to Rayo in their last 9 games, and they haven’t lost any of their last 5 games overall. Rayo has only 1 loss in the preseason, but they are barely scoring goals. I’m taking Sevilla at home.
