Borussia Dortmund is hosting Hoffenheim at Signal Iduna Park in round 3 of the German Bundesliga. After winning their season opener, Borussia is now on a 2-game losing streak. Hoffenheim is playing great, they are scoring a ton of goals, and they are undefeated in their last 5 games.

After Borussia lost to Bayern in the German Super Cup last week, they needed a win in Bundesliga to get back on track, but that didn’t happen. Borussia was playing against Freiburg last weekend, and they were the dominant team with 76% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 10 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 88% of the correct passes. Borussia looked well, at least in their midfield, but they couldn’t get the ball to Haaland, and their defense was terrible. I know Borussia has some injuries, but they have enough quality to beat a team like Freiburg. Borussia has lost this match 2-1. Haaland has scored 2 goals, while Hazard, Reyna, and Reus added 1 goal each. Haaland also has 3 assists. The good news for Borussia is that their injury list is getting smaller, and Morey, Zagadou, and Hazard are the only ones on it right now. Overall, Borussia is playing well, but they need to get their defense in order, and maybe that International break next week will help them with that.

Hoffenheim has been one of the best teams in Bundesliga so far, and they have 1 win, 1 loss, 6 scored goals, and only 2 conceded goals in their first two games. Defensively, I think Hoffenheim has improved, but they need to stay consistent, while their offense must keep producing good chances. Bruun is the leading goalscorer for Hoffenheim with 2 goals, while Rutter, Rudy, Adamyan, and Akpoguma added 1 goal each. Kramaric has been assisting a lot, and he now has 4 assists to his name. Bebou, Bicakcic, Grillitsch, Hubner, Nordtveit, and Kadaberek are all injured for Hoffenheim. In their last game against Union Berlin at home last weekend, Hoffenheim has had 64% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 84% of the correct passes. After conceding a goal in the 10th minute, Hoffenheim turned the game around by the 30th minute. In the 47th minute, Hoffenheim has conceded another goal, and this game has ended in a 2-2 draw. After a disappointing last season, Hoffenheim is looking a lot better this season, and I think we will see them once again in the Europa League race.

When these two teams meet, we usually see a lot of goals, and I think that will be the case here as well. Hoffenheim is in better form, but they will need a lot to stop Borussia’s offense, which is just don’t see happening. I’m taking the goals in this one.
