Mexico vs. Jamaica 9/2/21 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Mexico vs. Jamaica face off on Thursday in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifying game at Aztec Stadium. These two teams last faced off in 2017 and it was Jamaica that came away with the victory. 

Mexico are the favorites to be on top of the standings when this tournament is done, but they know this won’t be a walk in the park. Mexico had issues against Canada in the Gold Cup semifinal and against USA in the final they were defeated. Mexico gave up a goal in the 117th minute and that led to the defeat. Mexico had 22 shots in that game and 64 percent of the possession, but they didn’t put any goals in the back of the net. In the previous two games, Mexico had five goals, and this is going to be a game where they are going to try to make a statement with the offense. 

On the other side of this matchup is Jamaica who haven’t scored a goal in their last two games. The last game came against the United States, and the defense wasn’t terrible, but they gave up one goal and that led to the loss. The last win for Jamaica came on July 16th against Guadeloupe. Jamaica fell behind 1-0 but Cory Burke had a goal in the 14th minute, and Junior Flemmings won the game in the 87th minute. In this game, Jamaica needs to have their defense play well first, or this is going to be a game that gets out of control early. 

Mexico is going to have no issue getting the job done in this game. Mexico wants to make a statement with this game, and they are going to get a few goals early. Look for Mexico to win this game -1.5.
