Argentina vs. Peru 10/14/21 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Argentina and Peru face off on Thursday in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying showdown at the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti.. When these two teams faced off in November of 2020, Argentina came away with the 2-0 victory. 

Argentina currently sits in second place in the standings having picked up 22 points in ten games. Argentina has found a lot of success during this tournament but two games ago against Peru the offense couldn’t find the back of the net, and that led to a 0-0 defeat. In the last game against Uruguay, the offense got back on the right track, scoring three goals, and that led to a blowout victory. Lionel Messi opened up the scoring in the 38th minute, and they never looked back as they cruised to the victory. Argentina had 23 shots and 10 of those went on goal. They also had 63 percent of the possession and is a game where they need the offense to be good. 

On the other side of this matchup is Peru who sits in 7th place in the standings having picked up 11 points. Coming into this game Peru has lost two of their last three games, including the last game against Bolivia, a game they lost 1-0. Peru gave up a goal in the 82nd minute, and that led to the loss. They also allowed 21 shots and four shots on target. Two games ago against Chile, Peru’s offense was good, scoring two goals, and they are going to need that same offense to be good again in this game. Even in that game though, they only had 41 percent of the possession, and if they don’t keep the possession in this game, Peru is going to have all kinds of issues winning this game.

Argentina scored three goals in the last game but I don’t expect them to be as strong in this game. In the last game, Peru gave up only one goal, and Argentina is going to score only a goal or two. Back the under.
