Dynamo Kyiv is hosting Barcelona at Olimpiysky National Sports Complex in round 4 of Group E of the UEFA Champions League. Dynamo is still winning in Ukraine, but they are still winless in the Champions League. Just when I thought Barcelona is going somewhere, it turns out they are going backward, but at least they fired Koeman.

At the moment, Dynamo is the best team in Ukraine, they are still without a loss in the Ukrainian Premier League, and they are the biggest favorites to win the title. As far as the Champions League goes, Dynamo is in the last place with only 1 point, but they are yet to score a goal in this competition. There is still a chance Dynamo can get to that 3rd place which will take them into the Europa League, but they would need a positive result from this game, and considering they are not scoring goals, I won’t put my money on it. Dynamo is one of the best teams in Ukraine, and they have been for years, they are scoring a lot of goals, they have some great players, but their national league is just too weak, which is why Dynamo is not competitive in Europe.

As I’ve mentioned, Barcelona has done one good thing, and that was firing Koeman after the draw against Alaves last weekend. It’s still unknown who will take over the team, but Xavi is the favorite, and I would absolutely love that. There is bad news from Barcelona as well, and that is Aguero who just recovered from injury will miss at least the next 3 months because of a heart condition that escalated in that game against Alaves this past weekend. Barcelona is in 3rd place with now in this group, but with a win here, and if Benfica doesn’t beat Bayern, Barcelona could jump to that second spot. Pique is the only goalscorer for Barcelona in the Champions League, and that is just sad to see. In that game against Alaves, Barcelona was dominant, as they usually are, and they have had 79% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 9 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and a high 91% of the correct passes. It’s hard to imagine Barcelona has scored only 1 goal in this game, but here we are. The final score was 1-1. I hope Barcelona will announce this week who the new head coach is, but I think anyone will be better than Koeman for this team.

This will likely be the game where Barcelona will dominate, create chances, and probably score at least one goal, but the question is if they can defend. Dynamo is solid at home, and they will try to get on the scoreboard, which will leave them vulnerable to counterattacks.
