Napoli is hosting Hellas Verona at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in round 12 of the Italian Serie A. Napoli is still undefeated in Serie A, and they are still at the top of the table, even though Milan is right behind them. Verona has been scoring a ton of goals this season, and they have beaten some great teams lately.
Napoli has scored a solid 23 goals this season, but their defense has been brilliant with only 3 conceded goals in 11 Serie A games, and that is a fantastic accomplishment. Earlier this week, Napoli was playing against Legia Warszawa in the Europa League, and they were the dominant team. Napoli has had 70% of ball possession, 11 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 7 big chances created, and a high 91% of the correct passes. After Napoli conceded a goal in the 10th minute, they really stepped up their game in the second half, and with 4 scored goals they have completely turned this game around, and they ended up winning this match 1-4. As far as Serie A goes, Napoli has a few tough games to play after the international break, and if they can stay undefeated in those games, I think Napoli has a real shot at winning the title in Serie A this season.
As I’ve mentioned, Verona has been scoring like crazy this season, and they have 24 goals in 11 games, but if only their defense was a bit better. The latest win for Verona was against Juventus last weekend. Verona has had 46% of ball possession in that game, 5 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 78% of the correct passes. With 2 early scored goals in the first half, and with a great defense for the rest of this game, Verona has deservedly won this game 2-1. Simeone is the leading goalscorer for Verona with 8 goals, while Caprari added 4 assists. Even tough Verona is playing great, they still have a lot of work to do as they are only in 11th place with 15 points, but if they can keep scoring as they are right now, I have no doubt they can climb the standings. The defense is the biggest problem for Verona, but so far their offense is picking up the slack, but that might not be the case in every game Verona will play.
Napoli is the better team here, they have more depth, and they are still undefeated this season, but I see Verona getting on the scoreboard. Verona is scoring a lot, and while they are facing the best defense in the league in this game, Napoli was playing in the Europa League, and that could leave them a bit tired. I will take Napoli, but I also see goals.
