Chelsea is hosting Juventus at Stamford Bridge in round 5 of Group H of the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea is in second place in this group, but they are in excellent form, and they are in the hunt for that top spot. Juventus has been the best team in this group overall, they are in 1st place, but they could still lose it.
Chelsea is now undefeated in their last 9 games, while winning 8 of those 9 games, and their latest win was against Leicester City in the EPL. Chelsea was very dominant in that game with 62% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and 85% of the correct passes. With a solid defense and very effective offense, Chelsea has won this game 0-3. Jorginho is the leading goalscorer for Chelsea in the Champions League with 2 goals. There are a few injuries in Chelsea, but luckily for them, they have a lot of depth and quality o the bench, and a coach who can get the best out of this team. Chelsea has been very dominant this season both in the EPL and the Champions League, and I think they will actually get to that second place.
Juventus is also in nice form, and they are on a 3-game winning streak. During this streak, Juventus has scored 7 goals while conceding 2 goals, and their latest win was on the road against solid Lazio. Juventus has had 42% of ball possession in this game, and their focus was on defense, and it paid off. With 5 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 85% of the correct passes, Juventus has scored 2 goals from 2 penalty kicks, and they have won this game 0-2. Dybala has scored 3 goals for Juventus in this competition, while Chiesa and Morata added 2 goals each. Danilo, De Sciglio, Bernardeschi, Chiellini, and Ramsey are all injured. Despite not having a lot of offense, Juventus keeps finding a way to score goals and win games, but we will see if they can repeat that against one of the best teams in Europe. I think Juventus will qualify for the next stage, but I’m pretty sure they would like to do that from the top spot, and since they don’t have the need to win this game, I think they will focus on defense.
As I’ve mentioned, both teams are in excellent form, on both ends, but I will give the advantage to Chelsea at home in this game. Juventus has beaten Chelsea in the reverse fixture, but this will be a different match, and I don’t think Juventus has the offense to create a lot of chances against the best defensive team in the EPL.
