FC Sheriff Tiraspol is welcoming Real Madrid to Sheriff Stadium in round 5 of Group D of the UEFA Champions League. Sheriff will most likely go to the Europa League, but they have done a surprisingly good job in the Champions League this season. Real Madrid is at the top of this group, but they need a won to stay ahead of Inter.
Sheriff has lost only 2 of their last 2 games, and both were against Inter in the Champions League. As far as the Moldova national league goes, Sheriff is now in 2nd place with only 1 point less than the leader of the league, but Sheriff has 3 games less played. Overall, Sheriff is the best team in Moldova, and it’s not even a competition, but I think they will need to wait some more to advance past the group stage in the Champions League. Of the 6 goals Sheriff has scored, Thill and Traore have each scored 2 goals. Cristiano has added 3 assists. I know Sheriff won’t just surrender in this game and wave a white flag not to get demolished because they need a win, and they will certainly not give up on the Champions League.
Real Madrid has lost to Sheriff in round 2 of this competition, and it was the biggest fluke I have seen in a long time. Real Marid has gotten to the top of this group in the meantime, and they are also undefeated in their last 7 games while winning their last 4 games in a row. Offensively, Real Madrid has been outstanding, but I am pleasantly surprised by their defensive performances considering they lost almost their whole defense. Benzema has scored 4 goals for Real Madrid so far in the Champions League, while Rodrygo and Vinicius added 2 goals each. Vinicius has also added 3 assists. When you take a look at Real’s roster you see experienced veterans like Kroos, Modric, Benzema, Casemiro, and Alaba, but you also see Vinicius, Rodrygo, Camavinga, and Valverde, all players who are the future of this club. Real Marid has a lot of depth, a lot of quality on the bench, and the coach who knows what has to be one at any moment of any game, and that is Carlo Ancelotti, one of the best coaches in the world.
I know Sheriff has beaten Real already this season, and I know they are at home in this game, but I think it’s payback time, and I see Real Madrid getting a nice win on the road.
