El Salvador vs. Mexico 10/13/21 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

El Salvador and Mexico face off on Wednesday night in a CONCACAF world cup qualifier at Cuscatlan Stadium. The last time these two teams faced off was in July and Mexico won 1-0. 

Mexico currently sits in 1st place in the standings having picked up 11 points. Mexico had played to a couple of straight draws before winning their last game against Honduras. Sebastian Cordova opened up the scoring in the 18th minute. Two more goals were scored after the 76th minute, and they won 3-0. In the previous two games, Mexico only scored one goal, and in this game, they need the offense to be better. With how inconsistent the offense has been, that is something that needs to be improved upon. If Mexico can score two goals, they will find success. 

On the other side of this matchup is El Salvador who sits in 6th place in the standings having picked up five points. El Salvador has lost two of their last three games, including the last game against Costa Rica. Jairo Henriquez opened up the goal scoring in the 12th minute, but then the defense started to have issues. El Salvador gave up two goals, and lost the game. Narcisco Orellana picked up a red card and won’t be available in this game. If El Salvador wants to win this game, they are going to need the defense to be better, or this is going to be a long game. Even in the last game when they scored first they lost, so even if they jump out to a lead, they can’t take their foot off the gas.

Mexico is the better offensive team, and they are going to have no issue running up the score. Look for Mexico to score at least two goals, and El Salvador should also score at least a goal. Look for the goal-scoring by both teams to push this game over the total.
