Hellas Verona is hosting Inter at Marc Antonio Bentegodi in round 2 of the Italian Serie A. Verona has been hot and cold so far, and their defense has been shaky in their season opener. Inter is on an 8-game winning streak, and they looked great against Genoa last weekend.

Verona has had a solid last season, but they have a new coach this season, and a few new players. In their season opener against Sassuolo at home, they have had 39% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and 82% of the correct passes. Verona has conceded a goal in the 32nd minute, and they conceded a red card in the 46th minute. After conceding another goal in the 51st minute, but they cut the lead in half in the 71st minute. Verona has scored another goal, but they also conceded one more goal, and they ended up losing this match 2-3. Because of the red card, Veloso is suspended for this game, while Lasagna is injured. Zaccagni is the leading goalscorer for Verona with 2 goals. I just don’t think Verona can repeat the last season, and I see them somewhere closer to the relegation zone this year.

Despite selling some of their best players this offseason, and changing the head coach, Inter is looking well, and they have been playing great on both ends. Inter has scored a ton of goals, and they continued to do so even after they sold Lukaku. Inter was hosting Genoa this past weekend, and they were dominant with 60% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, 4 big chances created, and 91% of the correct passes. Both Dzeko and Calhanoglu are newcomers to Inter, and they have had a great game. Inter has won this match 4-0, while Dzeko and Calhanoglu both scored a goal, and Calhanoglu added an assist. Skrinar and Vidal also scored a goal in this game. Gagliardini and Sanchez are both injured for Inter. With this win, Inter is at the top of the table, but it’s only the start of the season and Inter will need to stay consistent on both ends. There are teams that need the break, but I don’t think Inter is one of those teams, and the International break is coming, and I don’t think it will do Inter well.

Verona has never beaten Inter in the past, and of the 21 games these two teams played against each other, Inter has won 17 games, while 4 games ended in a draw. Inter is on an 8-game winning streak, and I see that streak continuing.
