Turkey and Italy are opening the Euro Cup 2021 at Stadio Olimpico in Italy. Turkey is a solid team and in great form, and they are undefeated in their last 6 games. Italy has qualified for the Euro Cup with 10 wins from 10 games, and they are now undefeated in their last 27 games.

Turkey is playing some of their best soccer in years at the moment, and that is because they were smart while rebuilding their team. Turkey is led by Yilmaz who has won the Ligue 1 this season, and he has probably had the best season of his career. In their last 6 games, Turkey has 4 wins and 2 draws, and they have scored 14 goals while conceding 6 goals during this streak. In their last game against Moldova at home, Turkey was playing with their best lineup, but changes were made as the game progressed. Turkey has won this match 2-0. On the defensive end, Turkey has some solid players like Kabak, Soyuncu, and Demiral, but they tend to make mistakes when pressured. As far as their midfield and offense go, Turkey is solid there as well, but I don’t think they have the depth to go far in this competition, and I think that will be their biggest problem in this tournament.

Italy has been playing fantastic soccer during the Euro Cup and the World Cup qualifications, and in my mind, they are one of the biggest favorites to win this competition. Italy is a fantastic team without some superstar players, but every player they have is crucial in their club, and they are all in good form. Italy is now on an 8-game winning streak during which they haven’t conceded a single goal while scoring impressive 25 goals. In their latest game against Czech Republic at home, Italy has had 62% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, and 6 corner kicks. With 2 scored goals in each half, Italy has won this game 4-0. As far as Italy’s roster goes, they have one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Donnarumma, while their defense is made of some experienced players like Chiellini and Bonucci, but they also have some young players like Bastoni who is the future of this team. In the midfield, Italy is deep and talented with some fantastic players, and this year’s Champions League winner, Jorginho. Scoring goals won’t be a problem for Italy because they have some serious firepower in the attacking end in Immobile, Insigne, and Belotti who have all had a fantastic season. Of all the teams in this tournament, Italy is the team in the best form, and there isn’t a team they can’t beat.

The last game Turkey and Italy have played against each other was back in 2006 so I won’t consider head-to-head matchups. Technically, Turkey is the home team here, but this game is being played in Rome which will be a massive advantage for Italy. Both teams are in good form, but Italy is another level or two above Turkey, and winning the first game of the tournament is important. I’m taking Italy to win at home.
