Italy and England face off on Friday in a League A Group 3 Nations League soccer showdown at San Siro. When these two teams faced off on June 11th, the two teams played to a 0-0 draw.

Italy currently sits in 3rd place in the standings, having picked up five points. In the last game against Germany, Italy really struggled, giving up five goals and that led to the defeat. Italy scored two goals, but it wasn’t enough. Italy had six shots on target but only 34 percent of the possession and that led to some major struggles. Italy is banged up heading into this game, and they will be without Lorenzo Pellegrini, Matteo Politano, and Marco Verratti. In this game, if they want to win, they are going to need the defense to be a lot better. If the defense struggles, it’s going to be another long game.

On the other side of this matchup is England, who sit in 4th place in the standings having picked up two points. England’s last game was against Hungary, and they looked terrible. The defense gave up four goals and that was the difference as they were defeated 4-0. They had 60 percent of the possession, but only two shots on goal. John Stones picked up a red card in the last game, and he won’t be available to go in this game. Harry Kane has scored 50 goals during his international career, and he’s expected to get the start in this game. Kalvin Phillips is dealing with a shoulder injury, and he won’t be available to go in this game.

England struggled in the last game, but I think they are going to get the job done in this game. Italy really struggled to defend in the last game, and they are going to have issues again in this game against England. Look for England to score at least two goals, and that will be enough for England to get the job done. Back England on the money line.
