Atalanta is hosting RB Leipzig and Gewiss Stadium in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League quarterfinals. Atalanta now hasn’t won any of their last 3 games, while losing 2 of those 3 games, and they are not looking well right now. Leipzig has been outstanding on the other hand, they have won their last game in Bundesliga, and their form is great right now.
In Serie A, Atalanta is in low 8th place, and they are very far away from the Champions League spot, and I think it’s not likely they will get there unless they win the Europa League. In their last game, Atalanta has lost to Sassuolo, while the first leg of this Europa League matchup has ended in a 1-1 draw. Atalanta has quite a few injuries at the moment, and they have been struggling with that whole season. Muriel and Malinovskyi are leading goalscorers for Atalanta in the Europa League with 3 goals each. Atalanta is a great team with a lot of talent, and I know I’m just repeating myself, but I will keep saying it because it’s true. Atalanta is capable of playing so much better, but all the injuries have been too much for them this season.
Leipzig has now extended their streak without a loss to 13 games, and they have beaten Hoffenheim in their last Bundesliga game. Leipzig was dominant in that game, they were solid defensively, and they deserved this win. In the Europa League, I think Leipzig should have done better in the first leg, but even though that game has ended in a 1-1 draw, I like Leipzig’s chances in this one. Forsberg is the leading goalscorer for Leipzig with 2 goals so far in the Europa League. There are no injuries or suspensions in Leipzig as of right now. At the moment, Leipzig is probably the most talented team in Bundesliga, they have a great roster, but they are in danger of losing some of their players in the summer. Since the coaching change has happened in Leipzig, they have been outstanding, they will qualify for the Champions League, and they are one of the favorites to win the Europa League as well.
The game from last week was the first between these two teams. I think Leipzig has been more consistent this season, and I think they have a better starting lineup because they don’t have injuries. I’m leaning towards Leipzig, but I also think they will score at least 2 goals here.
