Barcelona and Real Madrid are clashing at King Abdullah Sports City in Saudi Arabia in the semifinals of the Spanish Super Cup. Barcelona has been playing in solid form as of late, they are creating more chances, but they are still struggling with scoring and defending. Real Madrid might have lost to Getafe a couple of weeks ago, but they bounced back nicely against Valencia, and they are back on track.

Barcelona is now undefeated in their last 5 games, 3 of which they won. Thanks to this solid streak, Barcelona is now in 6th place with 32 points, which is only 1 point less than Atletico Madrid in 4th place. Offensively, Barcelona is improving, but it’s a process, and it will take time. Defensively, Barcelona is pretty much stagnant, and unless they bring in another defender or two, it won’t end well for them. Braithwaite and Roberto have been injured a while, but Garcia has joined them this week, and he should be out of the team for at least a month, which is a good thing for Barcelona if you ask me. The good news for Barcelona is they are getting Fati back pretty soon, and hopefully, he will bring them much-needed refreshment in the attacking end. Barcelona is definitely good enough to score a goal here, but we will see if they can defend.

Real Madrid is still holding the top of the table in LaLiga, and they now have a 5-point advantage ahead of Sevilla who have one game less played. Offensively, Real Madrid has been fired this season, and they are the best offensive team in the league, by far. Real has scored 45 goals so far. Even their defense is performing better than I expected, and they have conceded only 18 goals in 21 games so far this season. Diaz and Bale are the only two injured players for Real Madrid right now, and they have been pretty lucky so far this season. It’s clear that Benzema is Real’s best player this season, he has the most goals and the most assists, but without Modric, Kroos, and Casemiro, this team is unimaginable. This semifinal is being played on 1 leg only, which means it could go to overtime, and Real Madrid has more depth right now which will go their way. Real Madrid is trying to get LaLiga back, and they are marching towards the title, but there are a lot of games left, and Real Madrid has to be careful.

This is El Clasico, and these matchups are always interesting. Barcelona has failed to beat Real in their last 5 games, and I don’t think they will start now. Barcelona is playing well enough to get on the scoreboard, but that’s about it. I’m siding with Real Madrid.
