Burnley and Watford face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Turf Moor. These teams both currently sit in the relegation zone, so that makes this game even more crucial for each team. When these two teams last faced off in June of 2020 it was Burnley that found a way to win 1-0.

Watford currently sits in 19th place in the standings having picked up 14 points so far this season. Over the last eight games, Watford has picked up only one point total, and that has put them in a really bad spot for the rest of the season. In the last game against Norwich City, they had 69 percent of the possession, but they couldn’t find the back of the net and that led to the defeat. The defense also gave up three goals in that game. Emmanuel Bonaventure did pick up a goal in the 78th minute, and that led to the defeat. Watford has scored 23 goals total while their defense has given up 40 goals total. Emmanuel Dennis has been the top player for Watford scoring eight goals and adding five assists. Joshua King has been the top player for Watford scoring five goals and adding three assists.

On the other side of this matchup is Burnley who currently sit in 20th place in the standings having picked up 12 points. Burnley has had some issues this season but in the last game they played to a 0-0 draw against Arsenal. Burnley had only 24 percent of the possession and only one shot on goal, but the defense was strong, and that allowed them to pick up a point. Burnley has scored 16 goals total while their defense has given up 27 goals total. Maxwel Cornet has been the top player for Burnley scoring six goals. Chris Wood has also found success scoring three goals and Ben Mee has also scored two goals.

Burnley’s defense looked good in the last game, and they are going to continue that success in this game. Look for Watford to fail to get on the board, and I also don’t think Burnley will have many good scoring chances either. Back the under to cash.
