Canada vs. United States 1/30/22 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifications Soccer Picks, Predictions, Odds

The United States and Canada face off on Sunday in a CONCACAF World Cup qualifier at Tim Hortons Field. When these two teams faced off on September 5th the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. The United States had 72 percent of the possession, but could only manage two shots on goal. 

Canada currently sits in 1st place in the standings having picked up 19 points. Canada has won four games in a row, and they looked really good in their last game against Honduras . Canada was actually outshot, but there was really no doubt as they cruised to the 2-0 victory. In the 10th minute there was an own goal, and Jonathan David added another goal in the 73rd minute to seal the victory. Two games ago against Mexico, it was Cyle Larin who scored two goals within 10 minutes on the way to the victory. In this game, if Canada wants to get a victory, they need to try to have a lot of possession and limit the United States shots. 

On the other side of this matchup is the United States who currently sit in 2nd place having picked up 18 points. The United States didn’t have the best game against El Salvador, but they were able to break through in the second half with a goal by Antonee Robinson. The USA had nice scoring chances and six shots on goal, but they could only find the back of the net once. One problem for this United States team is they have had issues scoring in the first half, and have put a lot of pressure late in games for the United States to pull it off. 

The United States defends well in the first half, but they also have trouble scoring and that is going to be the case again in this game. It’s a true toss up who wins, but there is a strong play with the total on the first half. Back the under 0.5 goals at +130 to cash.
