Liverpool and Southampton face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Anfield. When these two teams faced off on May 17th it was Liverpool that secured the 2-1 victory.

Liverpool comes into this game sitting in 8th place having picked up nine points. Last Sunday against Tottenham, Liverpool scored two goals and that was enough for a one-goal victory. Mohamed Salah scored in the 11th and 40th minute and that was enough to secure the one-goal victory. Liverpool had 54 percent of the possession and six shots on target. On Wednesday in the EFL Cup against Derby County, it took penalty kicks, but Liverpool was able to win. Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Arthur are all hurt and won’t be able to go in this game. James Milner is working his way back from a concussion, and it’s expected that he’s going to be able to go in this game.

On the other side of this matchup is Southampton who sits in 18th place in Premier League having picked up12 points. Last Sunday, Southampton faced off against Newcastle, and they were defeated 4-1. They had 56 percent of the possession and five shots on target, but it wasn’t enough, as they only scored once. Romain Perraud scored in the 89th minute for Southampton. Valentino Livramento and Kyle Walker-Peters are both injured and won’t be able to go in this game. Che Adams is expected to stay in the starting lineup and is going to need to have a big game here.

Southampton’s offense has been an issue heading into this game, and I don’t think they are going to magically break out here. I do expect their defense is going to find success, though, and they will find a way to slow down Liverpool. They might still give up a goal or maybe two, but it won’t be more than here. Back the under to cash here.
