The Wolves and Newcastle United face off on Sunday in an English Premier League showdown at Molineux Stadium. When these two teams faced off on April 8th it was Newcastle that secured the 1-0 victory.

The Wolves have struggled to start the season, and they currently sit in 18th place in the standings, having picked up only one point. To say the Wolves have gotten out to a slow start might be an understatement. The only time that the Wolves picked up a point was against Fulham, and in that game they didn’t score a goal. In the last game against Tottenham, the Wolves failed to score and that led to the 1-0 loss. The Wolves played a midweek game in the EFL Cup against Preston, and they were able to win that game 2-1. Raul Jimenez is expected to start for the Wolves, and that should be a boost for the offense. The Wolves might be a defense-first team, but in this game, they need to try to push numbers forward and put some pressure on the Newcastle defense.

On the other side of this matchup is Newcastle United, who sit in 7th place in the standings having picked up five points. So far this season, Newcastle has a win and also two draws. Newcastle opened up the season with a win over Nottingham Forest, and the last two games have been draws against Brighton and Manchester City. In that game, against Manchester City, Newcastle scored three goals, and it’s going to be important the offense is good again here. Newcastle also played a midweek game against Tranmere in the EFL Cup, and they were able to win that game 2-1. The good news for Newcastle is that they should get Chris Wood back in the lineup here.

Even if Jimenez moves into the starting lineup, I don’t see the Wolves finding a lot more offensive success here. Look for Newcastle to score at least one goal, and that will be enough because the Wolves are going to be shut out once again. Back Newcastle to pick up a road win. Back Newcastle on the money line.
