AC Milan is welcoming Napoli to San Siro in a derby match of round 18 of the Italian Serie A. Milan is playing well right now, and despite all the injuries they have, Milan is somehow getting positive results. Napoli is a great team, still the best defensive team in the league, but they have been struggling with scoring as of late.
After failing to beat Udinese last weekend, Milan has lost the top spot in Serie A, but with a win here, they will once again get within a point. With 39 points, Milan is now in 2nd place, and they are among the best offensive teams with 36 scored goals. Ibrahimovic is the leading goalscorer for Milan with 7 goals, and with all the injuries Milan has, Ibrahimovic needs to carry this team. Rebic, Kjaer, Leao, Pellegri, Plizzari, and Calabria are all injured for Milan, while Giroud is questionable, but he will probably play in this game. So far this season, Milan is doing a great job, and once their injured players get back, Milan will have more depth and more quality to compete, and I see them in the title race for most of the season.
Napoli has had an incredible start to the season, they were at the top of the table for a long time, but with a series of bad results, Napoli has dropped to 4th place. Napoli has 36 points, 34 scored goals, and 13 conceded goals, which makes them the best defensive team in the league. In a surprising loss to Empoli last week, and at home, Napoli was dominant, they were creating chances, they just couldn’t score a goal. As far as the Europa League goes, Napoli has qualified for the next stage, and they will play against Barcelona in February. Mertens, Osimhen, Ruiz, and Zielinski have each scored 5 goals for Napoli so far this season, while Insigne added 5 assists. There are a few injuries in Napoli right now, but they have enough depth to replace those players. As I’ve mentioned, Napoli is struggling a bit, they are not scoring as much as they did before, which they need to fix fast if they want to stay in the title race.
I have a feeling this will be a great game with a lot of great plays and chances. Neither team is playing well on the defensive end, which is why they are forced to attack, and I think that is what is going to happen here. I don’t think either team has the edge over the other one, but I do see goals.
