Arsenal and Aston Villa face off on Wednesday in an English Premier League showdown at Emirates Stadium. When these two teams faced off on March 19th it was Arsenal that secured the 1-0 victory.
Arsenal has had a perfect start to the season, having picked up 12 points in the four games so far this season. In the last game against Fulham, Arsenal fell behind in the 56th minute, and it looked like their undefeated season might be over. The offense really put the pressure on, though, and Arsenal was able to secure the 2-1 victory. Arsenal had 72 percent of the possession and eight shots on target. Arsenal has scored 11 goals, while their defense has given up three goals. Martin Ødegaard has been the top player for Arsenal, scoring three goals. Gabriel Jesus is also having a strong season, scoring two goals and adding another assist. Arsenal is expected to be without some key players again in Thomas Partey and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who are both still dealing with injuries.
On the other side of this matchup is Aston Villa, who sits in 15th place in the standings having picked up three points. Aston Villa has lost two games in a row, including the last game against West Ham. Aston Villa had 58 percent of the possession and three shots on target, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. They gave up a goal in the 74th minute and that was the difference as they were defeated. Two games ago, against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa was defeated 3-1. Aston Villa has scored only three goals this season, while their defense has given up seven goals. Aston Villa doesn’t have anyone that has scored more than a goal. The good news for Aston Villa is that Tyrone Mings could be back after missing the last game with an illness.
Aston Villa has really struggled to score this season, and it’s going to be the case again here. Look for Aston Villa to focus on the defense, though, and they slow down the Arsenal offense. This is going to be a 1-0 or 2-0 type of game, with Aston Villa failing to get on the board. There isn’t a lot of value with Arsenal, but the under will cash.
