Atletico Madrid is welcoming Barcelona to Wanda Metropolitano in round 8 of the Spanish LaLiga. Atletico has been struggling with scoring goals lately, but they have scored 2 against Milan in the Champions League. Barcelona looks terrible, at least in the Champions League, while they are still undefeated in LaLiga.
Atletico Madrid is now in 4th place with 14 points, 9 scored goals, and 6 conceded goals, and in addition to their inconsistent offense, Atletico’s defense hasn’t been playing well. In that game against Milan in the Champions League, Atletico has had 64% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 87% of the correct passes. After losing 1-0, Atletico got lucky when Milan conceded a red card, and that was enough for Atletico to score 2 goals in the last 10 minutes of the game. Atletico has won this game 1-2. In LaLiga, Suarez and Correa have each scored 3 goals for Atletico. There are no injuries in Atletico right now, but Kondogbia is suspended because of the yellow cards. Atletico is a great team, but coach Simeone has announced they will be making some changes in their tactic, and I think that is a really good idea.
Barcelona might be undefeated in LaLiga, but they have lost both of their Champions League games so far, and both 3-0. I honestly can’t remember when it last time happened that Barcelona hasn’t scored a single goal after 2 games in the Champions League, but here we are now. In their latest game against Benfica on the road, Barcelona has had more possession, 60%, but only 1 shot on goal, 5 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 89% of the correct passes. This is the only shot on target Barcelona has registered, and It’s not a surprise they are not scoring goals. Barcelona has lost this game 3-0, and Eric Garcia has conceded a red card. Depay is the leading goalscorer for Barcelona with 3 goals. The injury list is slowly getting shorter, but there are still some big names on that list. Apparently, Koeman has only 1 game left to save his job as the head coach, and even then, I’m not sure that is a smart idea. This is the coach who said Barcelona doesn’t have the quality to play in their signature style, and not can’t be further from the truth. At the moment, Barcelona is in a bad situation, and I hope that will resolve soon.
Atletico is still undefeated at home this season, and they are undefeated in their last 11 home games. Barcelona is a good team in bad form, especially on the defensive end, which is why I’m gonna take Atletico and the goals because I think Barcelona will get on the scoreboard here.
