Atletico Madrid is hosting Granada at Wanda Metropolitano in round 3 in the Spanish LaLiga.

Atletico Madrid hasn’t played a game since they lost against Leipzig in the Champions League, but they were pretty active on the market in the offseason. Firstly, Atletico Madrid has permanently signed Morata, and they sent him to Juventus on loan, then Atletico Madrid signed Carrasco, and their most recent signing is Suarez from Barcelona in a free transfer. Atletico Madrid has also signed Grbic from Lokomotiva Zagreb. There aren’t any more notable departures except Morata. Gimenez is the only injured player for Atletico Madrid, and he will miss the first game of the season. Atletico Madrid ended the last season in 3rd place, and they will be playing in the Champions League this season. Not playing a single game in over a month could be a double-edged sword for Atletico, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s Atletico Madrid. Atletico is still a defensive team, and they are mostly focusing on strong defense and counter-attacks, but they are slowly evolving, and their offense is getting better and more effective. Atletico has stayed mostly the same team from last season, but now that they have signed Suarez, I think they will be a lot more dangerous.

Granada is in a fantastic form, and they have won their last 4 games, 2 in LaLiga, and 2 in the Europa League qualifications. In their latest LaLiga match against Alaves at home, Granada has had 56% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and 76% of the correct passes. Granada got ahead early, in the 7th minute, but Alaves tied the result in the 22nd minute. Granada was the better team, and they have scored another goal in the 79th minute. Granada has deservedly so won this match 2-1. With 6 points, 4 scored goals, and only 1 conceded a goal, Granada is at the top of the LaLiga standings. Granada was playing in the Europa League qualifications earlier this week, and they have won that match 2-0. Mila, Herrera, Soldado, and Machis have each scored 1 goal for Granada in LaLiga so far, while Machis and Montoro added 1 assist each. Eteki is injured, and he will miss this match for Granada. With players like Soldado, Molina, Kenedy, Machis, Gonalons, and Vallejo in their team, Granada is a good team, and they are playing well on both ends, and both in LaLiga and the Europa League. Granada looks like they will have an equally good season, and they will be playing in the Europa League this season.

Granada has never beaten Atletico Madrid in the past, and the trends are heavily on their side. When playing at home, Atletico has won every single game against Granada. Atletico is a fantastic team, while Granada might have a problem with fitness because they played a game earlier this week. I will give it a shot with Atletico, but I don’t expect a lot of goals.
