Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia M’gladbach are clashing at BayArena in round 2 of the German Bundesliga. Leverkusen is undefeated in their last 2 games, but they weren’t able to beat Union Berlin in their season opener. Borussia M’gladbach is in great form, they are scoring a solid number of goals, and they started their season with a positive result.

Leverkusen hasn’t played many preseason games, but the 2 they did play, they haven’t won. In their DFB Pokal match, Leverkusen has won their game, but they failed to beat Union on the road last weekend. Leverkusen was solid in that match with 67% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and 86% of the correct passes. After conceding a goal in the 7th minute, Leverkusen has gotten back on track in the 12th minute. The result hasn’t changed again, and this game has ended in a 1-1 draw. Diaby was the only goalscorer for Leverkusen in that game. Bellarabi, Fosu-Mensah, and Tapsoba are all injured, and they will miss this game. Even though they got rid of a lot of good players, and they have a few injuries, Leverkusen is still good enough to compete for the Europa League this season, but they will need to strengthen their defense.

Borussia was on a 4-game winning streak before Bundesliga, but they had a tough matchup in their opening game against Bayern Munich. Borussia has had only 35% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and 71% of the correct passes. Borussia started this game great, and they scored a goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately for Borussia, Bayern got back into this game in the 42nd minute, and the result hasn’t changed again. Borussia’s defense was impressive in this match, they were focused and calm, and they deserved a point from this game. Alassane Plea has scored a goal for Borussia, while Stindl had an assist. Doucore, Embolo, and Kone are all injured for Borussia M’gladbach. Borussia is also one of the teams with a new head coach, and so far, they have improved a lot, especially on the defensive end. If they can stay somewhat consistent this season, Borussia M’gladbach will once again be in the Champions League battle in Bundesliga, and I think they will prevail in that battle.

The trends are heavily on Leverkusen’s side in this matchup, but I gotta side with Borussia here. Borussia hasn’t lost any of their last 5 games, and they are in much better form. We are getting Borussia at a great price on the money line, and I will take it.
