Bayer Leverkusen is welcoming FC Koln to BayArena in round 26 of the German Bundesliga. Leverkusen has been playing really well in Bundesliga, they have been scoring a lot of goals, but they lost to Atalanta in their last Europa League game. Koln is not a bad team, they can score goals, but in their last game against Hoffenheim, they failed in that.
Leverkusen has lost only 1 of their last 7 games in Bundesliga, they held Bayern at one score goal in their game, and they are now in 3rd place with 45 points. Overall, Leverkusen is one of the best offensive teams in the league, and Schick is their leading goalscorer with 20 goals, but he is still injured. Diaby has also been in excellent form, and he has added 12 goals and 6 assists. Defensively, Leverkusen is still shaky, and they are having a tough time keeping those clean sheets, but as long as they are scoring more than they concede, Leverkusen will have a great season. If they can stay in the top 4, Leverkusen will qualify for the Champions League, and that is their main goal for this season.
Koln hasn’t been playing particularly well in the attacking end as of late, and they have scored only 4 goals in their last 5 games. Koln has also won only 2 of their last 5 games, and they are now in 8th place with 36 points. Modeste has been playing really well this season, and he is Koln’s leading goalscorer with 15 goals, while Schmitz has added 4 assists. Apart from Modeste, there is no one else in Koln that can score goals consistently, and that is a problem. There are a few injuries in Koln, but nothing too serious. Koln’s schedule over the next couple of games is not easy, but it will get easier after that. I don’t think Koln can reach Europe this season, but they are definitely a team that could make things complicated in the future.
Koln hasn’t done well so far on the road this season, while Leverkusen has won their last 3 homes games in a row. Leverkusen is the better team here despite missing some good players, and I think they will get a win here.
