Bayern Munich vs. Red Bull Salzburg 3/8/22 UEFA Champions League Soccer Pick, Predictions, and Odds

Bayern Munich is welcoming Red Bull Salzburg to Allianz Arena in the second leg of Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. Bayern has been struggling a bit with scoring goals, and when they do score, they need a lot of chances to do it. Salzburg is a fantastic team with a lot of talent, and they basically don’t have any competition in Austria.

Bayern is undefeated in their last 4 games, but they have 2 draws during this stretch, and the one against Leverkusen was painful this past weekend. Bayern has gotten ahead in this game, and they were dominant, they created chances, but once again they couldn’t score. The final score of that game was 1-1. Luckily for Bayern, they are still at the top of Bundesliga, and they can focus on this game, but unless we see some goals from them, they will have a very hard match. Lewandowski is the leading goalscorer for Bayern in the Champions League with 9 goals, while Sane added 5 goals. Davies, Goretzka, Neuer, and Tolisso are all injured. So much offensive firepower on one team is rare, and it’s rarer that it works, but Bayern has to find their way back to that type of football, and when they do, they will be unstoppable.

As I’ve mentioned, Salzburg is a great offensive team, the best in Austria by far, but they are also the best team, and they are at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga with a pretty big advantage. Defensively, Salzburg is solid, which they showed in the first leg of this matchup. Okafor and Adeyemi are leading goalscorers for Salzburg in the Champions League with 3 goals each. There are a few injuries in Salzburg, and Okafor is one of them, but the good news for Salzburg is they have a lot of talent on that team to replace Okafor. I don’t think Salzburg intends to sit back in this game because if they do there will be hell to pay. The longer this game goes on without Salzburg scoring a goal, the harder it will be for them to contain Bayern and their possession, and that is when mistakes happen. Salzburg will attack, they will try to score, and I think they will succeed.

The first leg was fun, we saw great football, and we saw 2 goals, but there should have been more. Bayern is the better team here, but they can’t underestimate Salzburg because they are capable of scoring multiple goals in this matchup.
