Bayern Munich is hosting VfL Bochum at Allianz Arena in round 5 of the German Bundesliga. Bayern is once again on a winning streak, and they have demolished Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this week, on the road I might add. We knew Bochum will struggle as the newcomer to Bundesliga, and they are now on a 3-game losing streak.
Bayern is in 2nd place in Bundesliga, but I don’t think it will take them long to take over the top once again. Bayern has scored 13 goals so far in Bundesliga, while they conceded 4 goals. In the Champions League against Barcelona earlier this week, Bayern was dominant with 52% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, 5 big chances created, and a high 89% of the correct passes. This game looked like Bayern was playing against the team from the bottom of the table and not Barcelona, and they have deservedly won this game 0-3. As per usual, Lewandowski has been scoring a ton of goals for Bayern, and he has scored 6 in Bundesliga already, while Gnabry and Musiala added 2 goals each. Kimmich added 3 assists. There are no injuries in Bayern as of right now, and that is a good thing because they will need all the depth they can get. I was hoping someone will be able to take the title from Bayern in Bundesliga, but even this early in the season, I don’t think anyone will.
Bochum is outside the relegation zone right now, but they have already conceded 6 goals so far this season, and they are in 13th place with 3 points. Bochum was hosting Hertha in their last game, and they were quite good with 67% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 80% of the correct passes. Despite all the dominance, Bochum’s defense was sloppy, and they ended up losing this game 1-3. Zoller has scored 2 goals for Bochum so far this season, while Polter and Holtmann added 1 goal each. Zolter has also added 2 assists. The injury list is quite long for Bochum, and Grave, Asano, Gamboa, Leitsch, and Hartwig are all on the list. Bochum is a good team, at least for Bundesliga 2, but they will have a tough time staying in Bundesliga with a sloppy defense like this.
This is going to be a one-sided game where Bayern will dominate, create a ton of chances, and score quite a few goals. As usual, the price on Bayern is too steep, which is why I will take the first half result here.
