Bolivia and Paraguay face off on Thursday in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying showdown at the Olympic Stadium Hernando Siles. When these two teams faced off in June it was Paraguay that won 3-1.
Bolivia currently sits in 9th place in the standings having picked up only nine points in the 11 games. Bolivia had some major struggles, but they are coming off a big win in their last game against Peru. Peru was down to 10 players at the time but in the 82nd minute Ramiro Vaca scored a goal to pick up the three points. Henry Vaca picked up a red card in the 75th minute, and he won’t be available for this game. Bolivia had lost three games in a row before the last victory and in the two previous losses they couldn’t find the back of the net.
On the other side of this matchup is Paraguay who currently sit in 6th place in the standings having picked up 12 points. In Paraguay’s last game against Chile, the offense couldn’t get anything going. They couldn’t put any shots on target and had only 39 percent of the possession. They gave up two goals, and the defense is going to need to be a lot better in this game. Omar Alderete picked up a red card in the 89th minute, and he won’t be available in this game. Over the last two games, Paraguay hasn’t found the back of the net, and at some point, they need to start picking up three points. In this game, they need to try and push the numbers forward.
When these two teams faced off earlier this year, it was a higher scoring game, but I really don’t like the way that Paraguay’s offense has looked, and this is going to be a lower scoring. Look for the under to cash, and I will also be throwing a few dollars on the exact score of 0-0 to cash.
