Borussia Dortmund is hosting SC Freiburg at Signal Iduna Park in round 19 of the German Bundesliga. Borussia has snapped out of their loss against Hertha, but it took a lot from them to beat Eintracht. Freiburg has had a nice lead last weekend, but they have gambled it away by conceding 2 goals in the second half.
Borussia has now lost only 1 of their last 5 games, and they are still in second place with 37 points, which is 6 points less than Bayern. Offensively, Borussia is one of the best teams in Bundesliga, they are just behind Bayern, but by a lot. Borussia has scored 44 goals so far this season, and Haaland is their leading goalscorer with 19 scored goals and 6 assists. There are still quite a few injuries and covid cases in Borussia, but they are a great team, especially in the starting lineup. After this game, Borussia has a DFB Pokal match, and a couple of tough matchups in Bundesliga, but I think they have the offense to beat anyone, Borussia’s defense on the other hand is very inconsistent, but luckily for them, their offense can keep up, for now.
Freiburg hasn’t lost any of their last 3 games, but they have won only 1 of those 3 games. Fortunately for Freiburg, they are still in the top 4 in Bundesliga. Freiburg is in 4th place with 30 points, 30 scored goals, and the best defense in the league with only 18 conceded goals. Freiburg is a great team, in a whole sense of the word. Grifo, Holer, Lienhart, and Jeong have each scored 4 goals for Freiburg so far this season. Grifo has also added 6 assists. There are a few players in the covid protocol for Freiburg, but some of them might be back for this game. As far as Freiburg’s Bundesliga schedule goes, they are in a solid position, and I think they can expect some wins over the next couple of weeks. As far as DFB Pokal goes, Freiburg is facing Hoffenheim next week, and that is also a team they can beat. I love Freiburg, and I love the way they are running this club, and they are the proof that smaller teams can make an impact without having superstars on their roster.
When playing at home, Borussia hasn’t lost to Freiburg in their last 13 games. Both teams are in a bit shaky form, but they are still scoring a lot of goals. Freiburg is better defensively, but there is no stopping Borussia. I see goals in this one, a lot of them.
