Borussia Dortmund is hosting VfL Wolfsburg at Signal Iduna Park in round 30 of the German Bundesliga. Borussia is still in 2nd place, and I think they will stay there because they are far from Bayern, and Leverkusen is far from them. Wolfsburg is having a disappointing season, they should have been fighting for the Europa League, but at least they have saved themselves from being relegated.
Borussia has been hot and cold for pretty much the entire season, and they have only 1 win in their last 3 games. Borussia was destroyed by Leipzig a couple of weeks ago, but they bounced back nicely against Stuttgart last weekend in Bundesliga. Borussia was solid in that game, they scored 1 goal in each half, and they have won that match 0-2. A curious thing in Borussia is that Haaland has been playing in every of their last few games, and he hasn’t scored a goal, which means he is due. Despite not scoring any goals recently, Haaland is still the leading goalscorer for Borussia with 16 goals and 7 assists. Reus has added 9 goals and 7 assists. The injury list is still pretty long for Borussia Dortmund, but they have enough quality to beat any team out there. I’m pretty sure Borussia will lose a few players at the end of this season, but we will see if they can sign anyone as their replacements.
Wolfsburg has had a very rough season, and it’s still not over. Wolfsburg was once again on a 3-game losing streak, but they were able to get a win against Arminia last weekend, and that helped them solidify their spot in Bundesliga for next season. with 34 points, Wolfsburg is now in 13th place, and they are now 8 points away from the relegation zone. Wolfsburg hasn’t been scoring a lot this season, but Nmecha is their leading goalscorer with 8 goals, while Weghorst has added 6 goals. Philipp and Baku have added 4 assists each. Otavio, William, and Van de Ven are all injured. Wolfsburg has 5 games left in this season, but they are still playing against Bayern and Borussia, while the other games are winnable for them. Wolfsburg has started this season great, but after that everything has gone downhill, and their season has turned into a huge disappointment.
Wolfsburg hasn’t won any of their last 7 games against Borussia, while Borussia hasn’t lost to Wolfsburg in their last 9 home games. Neither team is playing great right now, but the quality is on Dortmund’s side. I think Dortmund gets the win here, but I also think Wolfsburg will score, and that is the pick I’m going with here.
