Borussia M’gladbach is hosting Arminia Bielefeld at Borussia-Park in round 4 of the German Bundesliga. Borussia has had some really good moments this season, but they weren’t able to win any of their first 3 games so far. Arminia also hasn’t won any of their games so far, but they also haven’t lost any of their first 3 games this season.
Borussia is pretty much the same team they were last season, but they have a new head coach, and it doesn’t seem to be working for them at the moment. Borussia has scored only 2 goals, but they have conceded 7 goals, and they are struggling on both ends. Borussia M’gladbach was playing against Union Berlin on the road in their last game, and they have had 72% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 85% of the correct passes. It took a long time for Borussia to score a goal, and they did in the 91st minute, but it was too late at that point. Borussia has lost this match 2-1 despite all their dominance. Plea and Hofmann have each scored only 1 goal for Borussia so far this season. Doucoure, Lainer, and Thuram are all injured for Borussia. If Borussia M’gladbach wants to go to the Europa League next season, they better wake up soon, and they better improve their defense fast.
Arminia is on a nice run, they are undefeated in their last 5 games, but they also haven’t won any of their first 3 Bundesliga games. During this streak, Arminia has scored and conceded 2 goals, but they still haven’t played against any of the stronger teams. The only injured player for Arminia is Vasiliadis, while Wimmer and Klos scored 1 goal each. Arminia was hosting Eintracht before the international break, and they have had 35% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and only 66% of the correct passes. Despite everything, it was a decent game for Arminia, and they got a point out of it because it ended in a 1-1 draw. I honestly don’t think Arminia will have any problems staying out of the relegation zone, but that’s about all we can expect from them. Arminia doesn’t have the depth or quality to compete with the big dogs, but that is good enough for them.
When playing at home, Borussia hasn’t lost to Arminia in their last 8 games, while Arminia hasn’t won any of their last 4 games overall against M’gladbach. Arminia is in slightly better form, but that doesn’t mean they are a better team. I’m taking Borussia to get their first win of the season at home.
