Brazil vs. Peru 9/9/21 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Brazil and Peru face off on Thursday in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying game at Arena de Pernambuco. These two teams last faced off in the Copa America on July 5th and Brazil came away with the 1-0 victory. 

Brazil currently sits in 1st place in the standings with 21 points so far. Brazil is coming off a weird situation in their last game with the game being suspended because of COVID issues with the Argentina team. Brazil has found success this summer, but they haven’t been running up the score, against even bad teams. Two games ago against Chile, Brazil scored only one goal, but that was the difference as they won 1-0. Brazil actually had only 39 percent of the possession in that game, and in this game, they need to find a way to get the offense going early, and they also need to have more possession. 

On the other side of this matchup is Peru who sit in 7th place in the standings having picked up eight points. Peru is coming off a victory in their last game against Venezuela. Peru opened up the scoring in the 38th minute by Christian Cueva and then the defense locked down as they cruised to the victory. Peru had 13 shots and five shots on goal. Peru also had 52 percent of the possession and if they want any chance to come away with a victory they are going to need to keep the possession. 

There won’t be a whole lot of offense in this game. Brazil hasn’t been running up the score against many teams, and I don’t think that will change in this game. Look for Brazil and Peru to play a defensive game, and the under will cash.
