Brazil and South Korea face off on Monday in a Round of 16 World Cup soccer showdown at Stadium 974.
Brazil finished in 1st place in Group G having picked up six points. Brazil opened up the World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Serbia, and they followed that up with a 1-0 victory over Switzerland. In the last game against Cameron, though, the offense couldn’t get anything going, and that led to the 1-0 defeat. Brazil was resting a lot of key players in the last game, but that loss still didn’t feel good. Neymar is dealing with an ankle injury, but there is a chance that he’s going to be able to play in this game. Gabriel Jesus and Alex Telles are both dealing with knee injuries, and they have been ruled out the rest of the World Cup.
On the other side of this matchup is South Korea who finished in second place in Group H picking up four points. South Korea has been tested so far in the World Cup, but they have advanced to the group stage, and now they have a chance. In the first World Cup, against Uruguay, they played to a 0-0 draw. In the second game against Ghana, they scored two goals, but the defense gave up three goals. In the last game against Portugal, they needed a win, and they were able to secure a 2-1 victory. Kim Min-jae missed the last game with a calf injury, and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game. South Korea knows the defense is going to be tested, and they require the defense to step up here.
Brazil’s back line is dealing with injury issues, and they are going to struggle in this game with the defense. Brazil’s attack has a ton of confidence, though, and they should be able to break through the back line of South Korea. This game is going to be higher scoring and the over is going to cash here.
