Brentford and Everton face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Gtech Community Stadium. When these two teams faced off on May 15th it was Brentford that secured the 3-2 victory. 

Brentford comes into this game sitting in 8th place in the standings having picked up four points. Brentford has played pretty well to start the season, and if it wasn’t for a late goal given up in the last game, they would have picked up at least a point in all three games. To start the season, Brentford played to a draw against Leicester City, and two games ago against Manchester United they were able to secure the 4-0 victory. Brentford did play a midweek EFL Cup game against Colchester, and it was a 2-0 victory. Kristoffer Ajer is expected to return to the lineup, and that is good news for Brentford. 

On the other side of this matchup is Everton, who currently sits in 17th place having picked up only one point. Everton opened up the season with a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea, and even though they lost that game, the defense was good in that game. Two games ago against Aston Villa they were defeated 2-1 and in the last game against Nottingham Forest they played to a 1-1 draw. Everton fell behind in the 81st minute, but it was a goal by Demarai Gray in the 88th minute that allowed them to pick up a point. The defense hasn’t been awful for Everton, and in this game, Everton needs to find a way to get the offense going here. Jordan Pickford has looked good in goal, and they need him to have a big game here. 

Everton’s defense has looked good coming into this game, and I expect that will be the case again in this game. Everton’s offense has been a big issue heading into this game, and that will let them down again in this game. It wouldn’t shock me if this game ended in a 0-0 draw, and that is going to lead to this game being lower scoring. Look for this game to finish with two goals or fewer, and the under is going to cash.
