Burnley vs. Leeds United 8/29/21 Premier League Soccer Pick, Odds, and Predictions

Burnley and Leeds United face off on Sunday in an English Premier League showdown at Turf Moor. The last time these two teams faced off was in March of 2021 and it was Leeds United that came away with the 4-0 victory. 

Burnley has looked terrible to start the season and there is a lot of pressure to pick up at least a point in this game. In the first game of the season, Burnley lost to Brighton 2-1 and they followed that up with a loss against Liverpool 2-0. In the first game James Tarkowski opened up the scoring in the second minute, but since that point they haven’t scored a goal. Against Liverpool, Burnley had nine shots while only three of those went on goal. Burnley had 33 percent of the possession, and that is something that could be an issue all season. If Burnley wants to come away with a victory they need to find a way to get that possession number closer to 50 percent so they won’t always having to be playing on the counter-attack.

On the other side of this matchup is Leeds United who have picked up one point so far this season. Leeds United opened up the season with a 5-1 loss to Manchester United, before playing to a 2-2 draw against Everton. Mateusz Klich opened up the scoring in the 41st minute, Raphinha added another goal in the 72nd minute. Leeds United had 17 shots and four shots on target. Leeds United dominated the game having 70 percent of the possession so they can’t feel great that they gave up two goals and only had a draw. 

Burnley’s offense has been an issue scoring only one goal total and it’s not going to get any better in this game. Look for Leeds United to dominate the possession, but their defense will also be a lot better in this game. Back Leeds United to come away with the victory.
