Celta Vigo is hosting Real Sociedad at Municipal de Balaidos in round 11 of the Spanish LaLiga. Celta has had some great results as of late, but that is not the best they can do, not even close. Sociedad has been the best team in LaLiga overall this season, and with a win here, Sociedad will retake the top of the table.

Celta has now gained some distance from the relegation zone, but they are still in danger, and they are now in 14th place with only 10 points. Offensively, Celta hasn’t been the best, but their defense has given them some hope with 12 conceded goals in 10 games. In their last game against Getafe on the road, Celta was the dominant team with 66% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, 4 big chances created, and 85% of the correct passes. With an outstanding second half, Celta has deservedly won this game 0-3. Santi Mina is now the leading goalscorer for Celta with 4 goals, while Aspas added 3 goals. I can’t figure out what the problem is with Celta because they start every season like they are playing together for the first time, but they seem to awake later, and this season is going to be the same.

Sociedad is playing outstanding soccer in both the Europa League and LaLiga, but unfortunately for them, they weren’t able to beat Atletico Marid this past weekend. Sociedad has had 44% of ball possession in that game, 4 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 80% of accurate passes. In the 48th minute, Sociedad was leading 0-2, but with 2 goals in the second half, Atletico has tied the score, and the final result was 2-2. Overall as I’ve mentioned, I think Sociedad has been great this season, probably the best because they have scored a decent number of goals, while also keeping their defense solid. Oyarzabal has scored 6 goals for Sociedad so far. The injury list is still long, and even Oyarzabal is on it at the moment, but maybe that will change. Real Sociedad has 2 tough games ahead of them this week, while they will play against Sturm Graz at home in the Europa League next week. This is a solid team with a lot of potential on both ends, and if they can stay healthy as they are right now, they will be in the title run for a while. The trends are pretty even in this matchup, and while Sociedad is better and more consistent, Celta might have woken up with their latest win. With all the injuries Sociedad has, I will give Celta a look here.
