Chelsea is welcoming Brentford to Stamford Bridge in round 31 of the English Premier League. Chelsea is also one of the teams playing in the Champions League next week, but they also need a positive result here. Brentford is a solid team, they have had some good results, and they are safe above the relegation zone.
Chelsea is now on a 6-game winning streak, they are in 3rd place in the EPL with 59 points, but the Champions League game they are playing next week will be the highlight of their week. Chelsea is playing against Real Madrid at home. As far as their injury list goes, it’s pretty short, and Chilwell is the only injured player Chelsea has. Mason Mount is the leading goalscorer for Chelsea with 8 goals, while Havertz and Jorginho have added 6 goals each. Mount has also added 7 assists. I think Chelsea might make some changes to their lineup here because of the Champions League, but they are still a great team with a lot of depth. I think Chelsea is more focused on Real Madrid right now, and it might cost them here.
Brentford has won only 2 of their last 12 games, but as of right now, Brentford is outside the relegation zone, in 15th place with 30 points. Offensively, Brentford has been playing better lately, but their defense is still not good enough with 47 conceded goals. Toney is the leading goalscorer for Brentford with 11 goals. Jeanvier is the only injured player for Brentford. There are a few tough games ahead for Brentford, but I think they need only a few more points to secure their spot in the EPL for next season. Brentford has had a pretty solid first half of the season, but after Christmas, they have somewhat disappeared, and they never found their way back. I’m pretty sure Brentford will sell a few players in the summer, but the most important thing for them is to secure the EPL spot for next season.
The trends are heavily on Chelsea’s side in this matchup, and they are the better team with more depth, but that game against Real Madrid might force them to make some changes to their lineup. I will take the double chance on Brentford in this one.
