Chelsea is welcoming Wolverhampton to Stamford Bridge in round 36 of the English Premier League. Chelsea has been sloppy lately, they will qualify for the Champions League, and they still have a chance to win the FA Cup. Wolves are on a 3-game losing streak, they are not playing well, but they are in the top half of the table.

Chelsea has lost 2 of their last 7 games, including the latest one against Everton, which they did not expect. With 66 points, Chelsea is now in 3rd place, they are 5 points ahead of Tottenham in 5th, which means they need the win here to secure their Champions League spot. Defensively, Chelsea has been one of the best teams in the league with 29 conceded goals so far this season, while their offense has been producing solid numbers, but they can do more. Chelsea has scored 68 goals so far. Mount is the leading goalscorer and assistant for Chelsea with 10 goals and 9 assists, and not that I’m taking something away from him, but when a team has Lukaku and their leading goalscorer is Mount, something is not right. There are a few injuries in Chelsea as well. Chelsea will look to secure the Champions League spot here so they can solely focus on the FA Cup finals, and I think they have a solid chance at winning it.

Wolverhampton has lost their last 3 games in a row, and they haven’t scored a single goal during that streak, which is embarrassing. In the standings, Wolves are now in 8th place with 49 points, but they are only 3 points away from the Conference League spot, where they would certainly like to get. Defensively, Wolves have been solid, but their offense is barely producing anything this season. Wolverhampton has scored only 33 goals, and Jimenez is their leading goalscorer with only 6 goals. Hee has added 5 goals. Podence, Kilman, and Semedo are all injured. I know Wolverhampton would like to qualify for Europe, but with the lack of offense they are experiencing, I’m not sure that is possible right now. Wolves are a solid defensive team, but that is all they are this season.

When playing at home, Chelsea hasn’t lost to Wolverhampton in their last 8 games. I know Chelsea has been far from their best lately, but they have a chance to secure the Champions League here, and I think they will take it.
