Denmark is hosting Scotland at Parken in round 4 of Group F of the World Cup Qualifications. Denmark was sensational at the Euro Cup this summer, and they certainly didn’t deserve to lose to England as they did. Scotland was also playing in the Euro Cup, but they weren’t as successful, and they didn’t advance past the group stage.
As I’ve mentioned, Denmark’s last game was on the Euro Cup against England in the semifinals, and they were solid with 42% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 0 big chances created, and 81% of the correct passes. After getting ahead in the 30th minute, Denmark has scored an own goal in the 39th minute, and this game went to overtime. In the 104th minute, England was awarded a penalty kick that didn’t exist, and they scored. Denmark has lost this match 2-1. As far as these qualifications go, Denmark is in 1st place with 9 points, 14 scored goals, and 0 conceded goals. It seems this group is not a challenge to Denmark, and their roster is pretty much the same as it was, and that is their biggest strength. I think Denmark is a great team, and I think they will have another great game here.
Qualifying for the Euro Cup was a big success for Scotland, and yes, they have had expectations, but they didn’t come to be true. Scotland has lost 2 games while tying 1 game, and that just wasn’t enough to get through the group stage. As far as these qualifications go, Scotland has done well so far, they are in 2nd place with 5 points, 7 scored goals, and 3 conceded goals, and the situation looks well for them right now. Scotland also has a solid group of players available here, they have some EPL players, some Scottish Premiership players, and some rising stars with bright careers ahead of them. Now, Scotland still hasn’t played the best team in this group, and we will see how well they can play against a strong team like Denmark, but the good news is that all the other teams are beneath them, and I think Scotland will take advantage of that.
Scotland has won 5 of their 8 games against Denmark, but it has been a few years since their last game. Denmark is the better team here, they are in better form, at least they were, but I think this will be a fun game, and I think Denmark will get a win here.
