Eintracht Frankfurt is welcoming Borussia Dortmund to Commerzbank Arena in round 18 of the German Bundesliga. Eintracht has also improved by a lot since the season started, and even though their defense is still shaky, their offense is on fire. Borussia is still chasing Bayern, and now that Bayern has lost their game, this is the perfect chance for Borussia to get close.
Eintracht is now on a 3-game winning streak, and they have beaten some great teams in those 3 games. During that streak, Eintracht has scored 9 goals while conceding 4, and they have even kept a clean sheet in their last game. With 27 points, Eintracht is now in 6th place, they have scored 27 goals, but they have conceded 24 goals. Hauge, Lenz, and Da Costa are injured, while Barkok is at the African Cup of Nations. Lindstrom and Borre have each scored 4 goals for Eintracht, while Kostic has added 3 goals and 7 assists. Eintracht might not have a strong striker, but they have a lot of offensive variety, and that is keeping them afloat right now. Eintracht’s schedule is not too hard over the next few weeks, but we are yet to see in what shape are they coming back to Bundesliga.
It’s so weird seeing Borussia Dortmund in 2nd place, and yet they are playing so inconsistently this season. Just before the winter break, Borussia was playing against Hertha, and they lost that match 3-2. In the attacking end, Borussia is one of the best, especially when Haaland is playing, and Borussia has scored 41 goals so far. The problem in Borussia is their defense right now, and even though they have some solid defenders, their defending is sloppy. With a win here, Borussia will come within 6 points from Bayern, but they are facing a tough opponent. As I’ve mentioned, when Haaland is playing, Borussia is playing, and he is their leading goalscorer with 13 goals and 5 assists. The good news for Borussia is they don’t have any players in the African Cup of Nations, but they have a few injuries and covid cases. Even without all these players, Borussia has a lot of quality left, they can outscore anyone, and I think they will outscore Eintracht in this game as well.
Eintracht might be in better form right now, but Borussia has more offense, and they are scoring goals a lot easier. I think Eintracht might score a goal here, but I see Borussia getting the win.
