England and Germany face off on Monday in a League A Group 3 Nations League showdown at Wembley Stadium. When these two teams faced off on June 7th, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Germany currently sits in 3rd place in the standings, having picked up six points. In the last game against Hungary, Germany scored zero goals, and although the defense only gave up one goal, it wasn’t enough. Germany had 73 percent of the possession, but only three shots on target, and a loss. Leon Goretzka and Manuel Neuer are both dealing with COVID-19, and they won’t be able to go in this game. Antonio Rudiger is now suspended for this game and won’t be able to go. The good news coming out of the last game is they didn’t pick up any new injuries in that game against Italy.
On the other side of this matchup is England, who sits in 4th place in the standings having picked up two points. England can’t be happy with the way they have played as of late, and with the World Cup coming up, that is bad news. In the last game against Italy, they only gave up one goal, but the offense couldn’t get anything going, and that led to the defeat. England had 57 percent of the possession and four shots on target, but they couldn’t find the back of the net. Ivan Toney, Ben Chilwell, and Marc Guehi weren’t included in the last squad, but all could move into the starting lineup in this game. John Stones also was suspended for the last game, but he will be back in this game.
There really isn’t a lot to be played for in this game outside of pride, and both offenses are having some issues coming into this game. It wouldn’t shock me if this game ended 0-0, but at best there will only be two goals scored. This game is going to stay under the 2.5 goals.
