Espanyol is hosting Sevilla at RCDE Stadium in round 25 of the Spanish LaLiga. Espanyol is still struggling, they are without a win in their last 6 games, but the good news is they got a draw against Barcelona last week. Sevilla is staying close to Real Madrid, they have won their Europa League match earlier this week, but now they need this LaLiga win.

Espanyol is now in 14th place with 28 points, they have scored a decent 29 goals, while they conceded 34 goals in 24 games. As I’ve mentioned, Espanyol is without a win in their last 6 games, but they were solid against Barcelona last week. The next couple of weeks will be tough for Espanyol as they are playing against Sevilla and Villarreal next, but they are scoring goals consistently which should help. Raul De Tomas is the leading goalscorer for Espanyol with 13 goals, but apart from him, there aren’t many players who can score goals for Espanyol. Darder has added 5 assists. Lopez is injured, while Morlanes and Ribaudo are both suspended because of the red cards. Espanyol has a bit of breathing room, but they can’t relax too much because the relegation zone is not far away.

After going 4 games without a win, Sevilla is now on a 2-game winning streak, and one of those games was in LaLiga, while the other one was in the Europa League against Dinamo Zagreb. Sevilla got ahead early in that game, but Dinamo tied just before halftime. Just a couple of minutes after that, Sevilla has scored 2 more goals, and they deservedly won that game 3-1. As far as LaLiga goes, Sevilla is now in 2nd place with 50 points, which is just 4 points less than Real Madrid. Sevilla has a better defense than Real, but even though they have scored 36 goals, their offense is weaker than Real Madrid’s offense. Rafa Mir has scored 7 times for Sevilla so far this season, while Ocampos has added 5 goals. Lamela, Suso, Montiel, and Rekik are injured, while Acuna is suspended because of the yellow cards. Sevilla will be playing in the second leg of that Europa League matchup, but they have won the first leg, and I think the second one should be just a formality for Sevilla.

Espanyol hasn’t won any of their last 6 games, while Sevilla hasn’t lost any of their last 5 games. Yes, Sevilla is the better team here, they are in better form, and they have a better defense, but this will not be an easy game for them. Sevilla needs the win, and I think they will get it.
