FC Augsburg is welcoming Bayern Munich to WWK ARENA in round 12 of the German Bundesliga. Augsburg is not in good form, they have won only 2 games so far this season, and they are now in low 16th place. Bayern is at the top of Bundesliga with 28 points, they are scoring a ton of goals, and they are doing a great job in the Champions League as well.
Augsburg isn’t doing well on either end, and they have scored only 9 goals while conceding 20. With only 9 points, Augsburg is in 16th place, but the good news is they are only 1 point away from safety. In their last game against Wolfsburg just before the international break, Augsburg has had only 38% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 74% of the correct passes. Augsburg conceded a goal in the 14th minute, and they simply couldn’t find a way back. Augsburg has lost this game 1-0. There isn’t a player in Augsburg who scored more than 1 goal, and they have a lot of injuries which is really messing up with their game this season. I think Augsburg can save themselves from relegation, but it will take a lot, ad I hope they can give it.
In Bayern, the usual situation. They are scoring a ton of goals, 40 in total so far in Bundesliga, Lewandowski is their leading goalscorer with 13 goals already, also as usual, and Muller is their leading assistant with 9 assists, also as usual. With 28 points, Bayern is at the top of Bundesliga, and it will be hard for them to lose that spot. In the Champions League, Bayern has already qualified for the next stage, and they have scored impressive 17 goals in only 4 games. In their last game against Freiburg at home, Bayern was the dominant team with 63% of ball possession, 11 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 4 big chances created, and a solid 87% of the correct passes. Bayern got ahead in the 30th minute, and Lewandowski has scored their second goal in the 75th minute, and that was enough for a 2-1 win. There aren’t any injuries in Bayern as of right now. I would argue that the Champions League game is more important for Bayern next week, but this is the team that has a lot of depth, they have no injuries, and pretty much every Bayern’s player is better than any Augsburg’s player.
Augsburg has been solid at home when it comes to scoring goals, but I wonder how much they can do without possession, which Bayern will control. Bayern is undefeated at home still this season, they are on the winning streak, and they are a much better team here. I’m taking Bayern.
