FC Augsburg is welcoming Borussia M’gladbach to WWK ARENA in round 5 of the German Bundesliga. Augsburg is having a tough time this season, and they are still winless in Bundesliga so far. Borussia has been hot and cold so far this season, but they have finally gotten their first win last week.
Augsburg is in 17th place at the moment, they have only 2 points, and they have scored only 1 goal so far, while they conceded 8 goals. Augsburg was playing against Union Berlin on the road, and they have had 40% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 74% of the correct passes. This was one of the worst games so far this season, and it ended in a 0-0 draw. The only goalscorer for Augsburg was Niederlechner with 1 goal. Strobl and Moravek are the only 2 injured players for Augsburg. This will be another tough season for Augsburg, but I have a feeling they will not be as lucky as they were last season, and I’m afraid we will be watching Augsburg in Bundesliga 2 after this season.
Borussia has gotten their first win, and I think it might be the turning point for them. Borussia M’gladbach was playing against Arminia at home last weekend, and they were the better team with 65% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 88% of the correct passes. With a great game on the defensive end and an even better game on the attacking end, Borussia has won this game 3-1. Stindl is the leading goalscorer for Borussia with 2 goals so far, while Zakaria, Hofmann, and Plea added 1 goal each. Doucoure, Lainer, and Thuram are all injured for Borussia. I know it was a slow start for Borussia M’gladbach, but they are a good team, and they are not playing in any of the European competitions this season, and I think that will help them climb the Bundesliga standings. Now that they have their first win, Borussia has to do everything to keep the streak alive, or at least to get a positive result from their next few games.
Augsburg is just terrible this season, on both ends. The trends are slightly on Borussia’s side, and I think they will win this game. Augsburg is not doing well, they are still winless this season, and I think it will stay that way, at least for now.
