Fulham and Brentford face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at the Craven Cottage. When these two teams last faced off in October of 2020 it was Brentford that secured the 2-0 victory. Brentford has picked up at least one point in six of the last seven games against Fulham.
Fulham has only picked up two points so far this year, but they still have to feel really good about where they are right now. In the first game of the season against Liverpool, Fulham was able to score two goals and for much of the game, it looked like they might pull off the upset. Even though Fulham wasn’t able to quite do that, they did do enough to pick up a point. In the last game against the Wolves, Fulham didn’t score a goal, but the defense was quite impressive and that led to the 0-0 draw. Fulham only had 40 percent of possession and three shots on goal, but they still picked up a point. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored two goals in the first game of the season against Liverpool, but in the last game, he missed a penalty. In this game, Fulham needs the good Mitrovic.
On the other side of this matchup is Brentford who have picked up four points already this season. Brentford fell behind 2-0 against Leicester City in the first game of the season, but the offense was strong late in the game and they ended up with a 2-0 draw. In the last game against Manchester United, Brentford’s offense was again strong scoring four goals and that was enough to win 4-0. Josh Dasilva opened up the scoring in the 10th minute, and there was really no looking back as they secured the victory. Brentford only had 33 percent of the possession, but they had seven shots on target and were able to win in blowout fashion.
These are both teams that have a ton of confidence heading into this game, but I can’t ignore how strong the Brentford offense looked against Manchester United. Brentford’s offense has so much confidence heading into this game and they are going to continue the strong scoring in this game. Look for Brentford to score at least two goals here, and that will be enough to secure the victory.
