Genoa vs. Atalanta 12/21/21 Serie A Soccer Pick, Predictions, and Odds

Genoa is hosting Atalanta at Luigi Ferraris in round 19 of the Italian Serie A. Genoa is not doing great this season, they are barely scoring goals while conceding a ton. Atalanta has had a shocking loss to Roma at home, but now it’s time for them to bounce back, and I think they will.

Genoa is one of the weakest defensive teams in the league, they have conceded 37 goals, while their offense is solid but not nearly enough to compensate for horrible defense. Mattia Destro is now the leading goalscorer for Genoa with 7 goals, and he should start in this game. Cassata, Fares, Caicedo, and Rovella are all injured for Genoa. Last week, Genoa has beaten Salernitana in the Coppa Italia, but in Serie a, they haven’t won a game since round 1, and because of it they are in low 18^th place with only 10 points. The good news for Genoa I suppose is they are only 3 points away from safety, ad there is still enough time for them to turn things around, at least somewhat.

As I’ve mentioned, Atalanta has lost 1-4 at home to Roma last weekend, and that is something they definitely didn’t want or expect. Atalanta is one of the best offensive teams in the league, and they scored 38 goals so far. In that game against Roma, Atalanta was the dominant team, but they weren’t able to do anything with all that possession, and they ended up losing that game horribly. With 37 points, Atalanta is now in 4^th place in the standings, and they are actually still pretty close to the top. Zapata has scored 9 goals for Atalanta so far this season, but Pasalic has been their best player with 7 goals and 5 assists. Gosens is the only injured player for Atalanta at this time. Atalanta must bounce back, they need to redeem themselves, and this is the perfect opportunity for that because Genoa is one of the weakest teams in the league. I don’t know if Atalanta has what it takes to fight for the title, but they definitely have what it takes to fight for the Champions League spot.

Atalanta is still undefeated on the road this season, and they are big favorites in this game. Genoa is not a great team, they have injuries, and they don’t have a lot of offense. I’m going all-in on Atalanta.
