Germany and Morocco face off on Monday in a Group H FIFA Women’s World Cup soccer showdown at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Germany vs Morocco Odds

Germany is the favorite at -3000 while Morocco is the underdog sitting at +3000. The total sits at 3.5 goals with the over paying out at -105.

Germany Betting Preview

Germany has won the World Cup two times before, and they hope to pick up a third title in this trial. If they are going to  take a step toward reaching that goal, this is a game they really need to win. The expectations are high for Germany, but they haven’t been exactly dominant heading into this game. On June 24th, Germany faced off against Vietnam and they were able to secure the 2-1 victory. On July 7th they faced off against Zambia and they were defeated 3-2. The defense showed some major holes and that led to the defeat. After tying the game in stoppage time they gave up a goal at 90+12. Carolin Simon suffered an ACL injury in that game and has been ruled out for the tournament.

Morocco Betting Preview

On the other side of this matchup is Morocco who will be making their first appearance in the World Cup. With being the first time in the tournament, there aren’t a whole lot of expectations, and this isn’t a team that has a whole lot of confidence. The last win for Morocco came all the way back in February. In the last five games, Morocco has failed to score any goals, and they need to find a way to get the offense going here. On July 16th they faced off against Jamaica and they were defeated 1-0. Hanane Ait El Haj is expected to start in the defense, and they are going to need her to be good here.

Shane’s Free Pick

Germany is coming off a loss, but now they face off against a Morocco offense that has had some major issues scoring heading into this game. Germany’s defense isn’t going to be tested much here, and Morocco isn’t going to get on the board. I do think Morocco’s defense will step up also, and this isn’t going to be a game where Germany scores three or four goals. Back the under 3.5 goals to cash here.
