Getafe is welcoming Villarreal to Coliseum Alfonso Perez in round 32 of the Spanish LaLiga. Getafe is outside the relegation zone, they haven’t been scoring a lot of goals this season, and they are still not safe. Villarreal has knocked Bayern out of the Champions League earlier this week, they have qualified for the semifinals, and that has certainly boosted their confidence.
Getafe is in 14th place with 32 points, which is only 4 points above the relegation zone, but they are not scoring a lot of goals this season, only 28 in 31 games. Getafe’s defense is a different story on the other hand, and that has kept them outside the relegation zone. Getafe has conceded only 35 goals so far this season. in their last 7 games, Getafe has 2 losses, 1 win, and 4 draws, but I think they will need a few more points until the end of the season to stay in the league. In their last game against Real Madrid, Getafe was fighting, but they just couldn’t do anything against Real who is in great form. Overall, I think this season will be a success for Getafe if they can stay in the league, and I suspect they will because their defense will keep them here.
As I’ve mentioned, Villarreal has qualified for the Champions League semifinals, and that was mostly thanks to their amazing defense in that second leg. Yes, Villarreal has conceded a goal in the second half, but just a few minutes before the end, Villarreal has executed a fantastic counterattack, and they have scored a goal that got them a spot in the semifinals. As far as LaLiga goes, Villarreal is now in 7th place with 46 points, which is 8 points away from the Conference League spot, and 10 points away from the Europa League. At the moment, I honestly don’t think Villarreal is thinking about LaLiga much, and in their heads, They are already thinking about Liverpool and the Champions League. Moreno and Danjuma are the leading goalscorers for Villarreal in the Champions League with 8 goals each. Dani Parejo has added 6 assists. I can’t help myself but love this season, the way they are fighting and playing, and if anyone has deserved a spot in the semifinals, it is Villarreal.
I think Villarreal might be emotionally empty from that game against Bayern, but it could also give them a confidence boost to get a win here. Villarreal is the better team on both ends, and I will take them to win in this game.
