Hungary and England are clashing at Ferenc Puskas Stadium in round 4 of Group I of the World Cup Qualifications. Hungary hasn’t won any of their last 4 games, but they were solid in the Euro Cup earlier this summer. England was fantastic in the Euro Cup, they have reached the finals, but they ended up losing to Italy after a penalty shootout.
Hungary is a solid team, and I think they have improved a lot over the last few years, and I don’t think they will stop here. Hungarian national league is improving, their teams are playing in Europe more consistently, and that has all strengthen their national team. So far in these qualifications, Hungary is in second place with 7 points, they have scored a fantastic 10 goals, but they have also conceded 4 goals. With 2 scored goals each, Sallai and Szalai are the leading goalscorers for Hungary. There are a few injuries and suspensions in Hungary for this game, but I think they have a solid depth and quality on the bench to replace those players. Hungary’s goalkeeper is great, their defense is solid, and as we can see, their offense is as well. Good job, Hungary.
England has reached the finals at the Euro Cup, even though they didn’t deserve to get there the way they did. As far as these qualifications go, England is at the top with a maximum of 9 points, 9 scored goals, and only 1 conceded goal. For this qualifications cycle, England will be without a few of their offensive players, but they have Harry Kane, and you don’t need much more to win a game. Kane and Calvert-Lewin have each scored 2 goals for England so far in these qualifications. We know how strong England is, we know how much depth they have, and the quality they have in each position. I don’t think England will have problems qualifying for the World Cup. There isn’t much more to say about England, they are a dangerous team that has greatly improved their defense at the Euro Cup, and it seems they finally got rid of those childish mistakes and the loss of focus as the game advances.
Hungary has beaten England only once, and that was a long, long time ago. Yes, England is the better team here, and I think they will win this game, but Hungary is dangerous when playing at home, and I think they will score a goal here.
